Jenny was born in San Marcos, a mountain town in Nicaragua, and moved to Los Angeles as a young adolescent. The distance between those two places, in landscape, in scale, in how people live inside their buildings, became the ground of her work: a lasting curiosity about how built space shapes the way we feel, remember, and live.

Her training moves between making and thinking. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Woodbury University, a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from California State University, Northridge, and a Master’s in Architectural Design, Theory, and Pedagogy from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). Earlier in her career, she spent several years teaching art, including photography, drawing, visual studies, and Central American studies. That experience still shapes how she explains ideas and brings clients into the process.

Jenny founded Estudio 09 and has led it through ten years of independent practice, focusing on residential work across Los Angeles. She guides each project from first sketch through construction, working directly with owners, contractors, and city officials so that what is designed is what gets built.

Jenny believes a home does more than shelter us. It holds us. The rooms we live in carry our routines, our memories, and the people we were before we arrived. Her work begins with listening for that: how the people who live there move through a day, where they gather, where they need quiet. From there she designs with attention to enclosure and openness, to the weight and texture of materials, and to the particular ground each house stands on. The goal is not a statement, but a place that feels steady and familiar from the first day, and becomes more itself over time.

Outside the office, Jenny keeps a studio art practice. Her sculptural work explores enclosure, domestic containment, and how materials change over time. She also photographs, often with her son and daughter alongside her, allowing her professional passion to blend naturally with family life.
